The first step to creating a good impression is to clean the home thoroughly so it smells and looks great. Paint all rooms a neutral color so the home appeals to everyone. If your home is already painted in neutral shades touch up any scratches or stains on the walls. Take down personal photos so that a potential buyer can see themselves in your home. If possible store excess furniture and toys to make your home look larger. Enlisting the help of an experienced Realtor can help make selling your home that much easier by taking some of the stress off of you the homeowner. The realtor you choose can give you suggestions on how to stage your home and develop a marketing plan to get your home sold. Buyers are on the move now whereas a few months ago I think they were in hibernation. Real Estate in northeast NC is starting to move once more and of course I like that! Selling and listing Real Estate is the way I make my living. The spring weather we have been having in March is simply wonderful. The flowers are blooming a month early and the grass is getting greener by the day. I wonder if old man winter has a few more surprises for us though. In April 1980 we had one of the biggest snow storms this area has ever seen. Could it happen again? Hopefully not this year. But if you feel the spring fever already and want to shop for a new property online simply go to www.elizabeth-city-real-estate.com and use my FREE MLS property search tool. You can't go wrong because you will be looking at the real-time MLS system that realtors use in the Albemarle area of NC. Let me know if you need further assistance! I'll be here for you!

Ingrid
www.elizabethcityrealtor.com is my alternate website
ikitchen@williamewood.com is my email address

Elizabeth City Coast Guard Air Station

If you are in the U.S. Coast Guard and are relocating to the Elizabeth City Coast Guard Air Station I can help you find your new home in this beautiful area. As I write this blog post the winds are howling outside, the rain is coming down horizontally and my husband's deer hounds are buried deep into their dog houses. Old Man Winter is making a grand announcement that he is here to stay. No...we don't get snow like other parts of North Carolina. Not too often anyway. I guess it's because we live so close to the ocean but that's ok with me. I like to see snow once or twice a year in the Elizabeth City area and then I am satisfied. It's beautiful coming down and the kids love to romp in it while it's fresh but boy is it sloppy when it's melting and going away. It's also been a while since we've had a white Christmas. They just don't happen in northeast NC too often. Is this our lucky year? We'll see I guess. Ok...it's time for a cup of hot chocolate. Have one yourself as you wind down after a long stressful day at work. Until next time...enjoy the beautiful Elizabeth City winter days!
Ingrid
www.elizabeth-city-real-estate.com
ikitchen@williamewood.com

Fall time of year in the Albemarle area of NC

I love the fall season. The colors of the fall foilage along side the road, the turning of the leaves and the decorations in front of the Elizabeth City homes. These Pasquotank County country folks sure know how to decorate for the change of seasons. Cornstalk teepees, pumpkins all around the stalks and unshelled corn hanging so pretty. It all signifies the time of harvest in the Albemarle area. Northeast North Carolina is a large agriculture area anyway so we are blessed to have many farmers around. And you know where there's a farmer there's a good decorating wife close by! It all adds up to the fact that it's hard to find an area around the country that is as easy to live in as the Albemarle area of NC. Water galore and fishing like you've never seen. Freshwater and saltwater varieties of fish come up into the Pasquotank River this time of year and the striped bass fishing is wonderful. Oh no! That means the hubby will not be here much between now and Christmas. I mean...I guess I'll be doing my Christmas shopping when and where I want to. Ain't that right Girls! National homes sales are down 7.5 %. OK...what does that mean? Well, in Arizona, Cali and Florida the sales are cooling down rapidly but supposedly Virginia took a 24% down slide in sales over the past year. WOW! talking about cooling! VA is North Carolina's neighbor so I guess I should be worried?? Not really. In the Elizabeth City, Camden and Currituck areas of northeast NC the sales are off a bit but the evening news finished the broadcast by saying that North Carolina remained one of the best states to find a good real estate bargain! At last... positive news that I could be joyous about! Hopefully all the people of the country will see the news and flock to Elizabeth City to buy their next house. Maybe the evening news was not so disappointing after all! North Carolina real estate...a true American bargain!

Stay cool!
Ingrid

4th of July in Elizabeth City, North Carolina

The 4th of July holiday in northeastern North Carolina was simply beautiful! My husband and I took the kids to the Elizabeth City waterfront park for the evening and the weather was absolutely perfect. It normally threatens rain as I recall the past years celebrations but there was not a cloud in the sky on the evening of the 4th. We set our chairs out on the lawn at the park to listen to a smooth jazz band play familiar songs with a flair. Several hundred residents were also doing the very same thing. What a sight. Everyone together, meeting, talking and showing the closeness that this area is known for. The main reason for our visit to the park was obviously to see the spectacular fireworks that are displayed every year in honor of our country's birthday. The Elizabeth City Shriner's Club offered hotdogs and hamburgers that cured the growling stomachs perfectly. All was well for the Kitchen family and promptly at 9:00 the fireworks started to the delight of all the kiddies and parents in attendance. At about 9:20 the fireworks grand finale started and man what a show! I sell real estate in the Albemarle area as you already know but at this moment, real estate was the farthest thing in my mind. As my eyes teared up a bit I couldn't help but realize that we are very very fortunate to live in this great country and be able to celebrate whatever we want to, whenever we want to. All I could think of was...God Bless America!

Waterfront Heaven, Elizabeth City, NC

I'm showing property in the northeast NC areas today but I have a few thoughts before I meet my new clients this morning. They want to move to Elizabeth City because it gives them a tranquil feeling and it looks like a very nice place to settle down. Tranquil? I never thought of it that way but they are right. Of course I realize after living here for 12 years that there are not many places in the US that have the character that northeast NC has. Elizabeth City is in Pasquotank County and we are bordered by Camden County on the east side, Gates County on the north/northeast, Perquimans County on the west side. The Albemarle Sound is south of us. Coupled with the Pasquotank River that flows right through Elizabeth City we are very blessed with waterfront real estate that is bountiful and spectacular. Water and tranquility do go together. This area truly is a waterfront heaven. My clients were absolutely right...but aren't they always? Got to run!

Ingrid

Elizabeth City NC Real Estate Blog

As I write this article someone is signing a contract to purchase a new home in northeast North Carolina. Elizabeth City offers many waterfront homes and building sites for sale. Farmland is available if you are a developer looking to expand your business. Condos are on the rise in this area if you resent lawn duties and the caring of a home. Although in the last 5 years real estate around the country at least doubled in value but in most areas quadrupled, northeast NC still offers affordable real estate. To see examples of the great listings currently on the market go to the link highlighted below and look for my "Free Home Search" link at the top of the page. Camden County, NC offers waterfront and country living second to none. The Pasquotank River separates Pasquotank County(where Elizabeth City is located) from Camden County. This is a beautiful river completely natural without industry along its banks polluting it. The Pasquotank River is also a link in the eastern intracoastal waterway that runs from Maine to Florida. Currituck County is the thoroughfare to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It offers many waterfront communities along the Currituck Sound and the North River. Gates County borders Virginia and is growing very fast as many Tidewater area residents are learning about the tranquility that the area promotes. Chowan County (Edenton calls this county home) is a beautiful area with the Chowan River running through the middle of it. This is a very historical area as well as the rest of northeast NC. Overall the area is a great place to raise kids and like I said earlier, to own your first home. We are 45 minutes to the beaches of the Outer banks or the shopping in the Tidewater area of Virginia. If interested in checking out some of the real estate deals in this great area just go to http://www.elizabeth-city-real-estate.com and click on the "Free Home Search" link at the top of the page. If you already live in the northeast part of the state and are interested in selling your property simply drop me an email at ikitchen@williamewood.com or call me at 252-202-7929 to discuss how easy and troublefree it can be selling your home if you list it with me through William E. Wood, Realtors. I will make your selling or buying experience a great one.

Ingrid Kitchen
